Bloomberg recognises IPL's commitment to gender equality

Jan 22, 2020

For the second year running, Incitec Pivot Limited has been selected for inclusion in Bloomberg’s Gender Equality Index (GEI), recognising the company’s commitment to equality and advancing women in the workplace.

Announced in New York yesterday, the 2020 GEI tracks the financial performance of public companies committed to supporting gender equality through policy development, representation, and transparency.

Incitec Pivot Limited Managing Director & CEO, Jeanne Johns said the announcement was a testament to the company’s values.

“I’m delighted we have been selected for the GEI, with our inclusion reflecting our strong commitment to equality.

“Since our inaugural selection in the GEI in 2019, we’ve continued to make significant improvements on gender equality and we’re making strong progress towards our stretch target of a 25% global female participation rate by 30 September 2022.

“It’s particularly pleasing we’ve made this progress without using quotas, focusing instead on creating an inclusive and supportive culture and matching people with the required skills and capabilities to the right roles,” Ms Johns said.

This year, Bloomberg expanded the eligibility for inclusion in the index to nearly 6,000 companies across 84 countries and regions. The 2020 index includes 325 companies across 50 industries, representing 42 countries and regions.

Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg said: "The 325 companies included in the 2020 GEI have shown their commitment to transparency and demonstrated leadership in gender-related data reporting. Disclosure of company statistics and practices is an important first step in supporting gender equality globally.”

The index measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture and sexual harassment policies. Companies were included in this year’s index for scoring at, or above, a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect a high level of disclosure and overall performance across the framework’s five pillars.
